HAITI - How can I help?

       Front Street UMC is receiving donations which will be forwarded to the United Methodist Committee on Relief.  If you send a check to the church, make it out to FSUMC. On the memo line, note one of the following:  'Haiti Emergency" (UMCOR Advance 418325 - money and supplies to be distributed through UMCOR), or "NC Conference Disaster Appeals (Advance #S-00096) to assist with our shipping costs for relief supplies.  On-line donations can be made by clicking here.

      The ladies of the church are making little girl dresses, sizes 2-4 and 6-8 to send to Haiti. We have patterns, fabric and thread in Room 303.  The dresses are very simple to make and they sew up quickly!  If you are interested in helping the little girls of Haiti, please click here to email Margaret Ann Freeman.

   
      The Burlington District of The United Methodist Church has launched the "Hope for Haiti" campaign as part of the Methodist Church's broader relief efforts.  There are many other ways you can generously help in this time of desperate need:

                    1.  Make a financial gift as explained above.

                     2.  Health kits, blankets, and tarps can be dropped off at the following sites by the      deadline dates shown. No clothing accepted.

3.  The Burlington District is responsible for having volunteers to pack and prepare shipment at MERCI facilities in Goldsboro on March 27. Contact Terry Huffines .

4.  Pack emergency meals for Haitians through the Stop Hunger Now program.  There are two opportunities:

 3/21  Purley UMC, north of Yanceyville - a joint effort of the Caswell cluster of UM churches. Our goal is to pack 10,000 meals. We need 50 volunteers and $2,500 to meet this goal - or pass it!

4/14  First Elon UMC - in conjunction with the DIstrict UMW's Mission Studies event.

5.  A relief project at the 2010 NC Annual Conference - TBA
