Joe and Vivian Peebles have been missionaries for 33 years, 28 of which were in Asia, 24 of which were in China.  Joe and Vivian raised two children, John and Julie, while living in China. With a population of 1.3 billion people, China is the world’s largest mission field.  During their years in China, the Peebles focused on church growth there both through evangelism and by helping to build and equip local believers.  Last year Joe and Vivian returned to the United States to care for aging parents, and settled in Greensboro.  Joe has been able to continue his ministry in China by becoming the China representative for the Josh McDowell Ministry, a branch of Campus Crusade for Christ. In this position Joe will travel to China several times each year, where he will deliver resources (books, audios, videos) to enable and enhance churches and will brainstorm with Chinese leaders about how to assist them with current needs.  Joe and Vivian also plan to minister to Chinese scholars at the various universities in the Greensboro area, and will help prepare teams from Greensboro’s churches for short-term mission projects in China.  This new role allows Joe and Vivian to continue to impact a land and people they love and to utilize their gifts and experiences while being able to live in North Carolina.
