Covid Update August 21

My Dear Front Street Family,

As you have probably noticed, COVID has jumped upon us again with a vengeance. Just yesterday, the CDC COVID Map moved Alamance County from Orange to Red. This moves us from the Substantial Transmission category to the High Transmission category.

In light of this trend, our Front Street COVID Task Force met last evening. After much discussion, we made a decision that is in keeping with the last direction offered by the Governor's Office, but is tempered with the reality that more people are vaccinated now than were back in the late winter/early spring.

So, beginning this Sunday everyone, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear a mask in worship, Sunday School classes, Bible studies, and committee meetings. We will however, continue to lift our voices in song in worship (while masked). Music is such an important part of worship, and we celebrate that.

Anyone working with kids is required to mask as well.

I have complimented the Front Street congregation to my colleagues. Some of them have had very vocal, even belligerent, reactions from congregants in response to decisions that they did not agree with. On the other hand, while you may not have been completely happy with every decision, you have been supportive and made the best of each situation. Making these decisions is not something we take lightly; they are not easily made. And I am grateful for your grace. We will get through this together.

As I have said before, we will continue to monitor the COVID situation, and make changes as necessary.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
 - Lamentations 3:22-23

Grace and peace,
Pastor Ross
