2007-2008 brochure -

CHERUB CHOIR -- Membership is open to all 4- and 5- year olds.  At this age music is used to encourage a love of God and worship through music. The children will begin developing their music skills in rythym instruments, creative movement and games. They will also begin to discover the singing voice and will experience pitch matching and echo singing. The Cherub Choir performs at each of the three worship services throughout the year. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 4:45.

CAROL CHOIR -- Membership in this choir is open to all first, second, and third graders. The study of music skills in rhythm, melody, harmony and form continues in a sequential approach leading to reading simple rythms and melodies. They will also develop good vocal technique with the understanding of the elements of correct breathing and posture, as well as learning to sing as an ensemble with response to the director. The children will develop an understanding of music in relation to the church and the order of worship. The Carol Choir performs at each of the three worship serivces throughout the year. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:00.

WESLEY SINGERS -- Membership is open to all second through fifth graders. Singing and basic understanding of the elements of music are taught in this choir. The choir prepares choral music for the different services of worship offered by the church. They also study the Affirmation of Faith, The Lord's Prayer, The Ten Commandments, Old and New Testament book order, hymns from our United Methodist Hymnal and the Liturgical year. In addition to singing each month in worship, the members have the opportunity to participate in musicals and drama presentations. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 4:45 to 5:30.

YOUTH VOCALS -- Staff musicians offer voice classes to youth who are participating in the worship services held at our church. High School students (beginning in ninth grade) sing in Chancel Choir or Praise Singers. Youth are also encouraged to participate in worship by singing solos and participating in small youth ensembles.  Drama and dance are available as interests arise.

CHANCEL CHOIR -- Membership is open to all senior high youth and adults. Repertoire for this choir includes hymns and choral music from the different periods of music history. Larger choral works are performed during the festival seasons of the year. The choir sings at the 11:00 a.m. service each Sunday. Soloists and small ensembles from the Chancel Choir provide vocal music at the 8:45 a.m. service. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 - 8:00 for senior high youth and 7:30 to 9:00 for adults. A nursery is provided upon request.

PRAISE SINGERS -- This group leads the Praise and Worship music for the Sunday morning Aldersgate Service at 9:00. Volunteers are encouraged to share their talents, including vocal, instrumental, dance and drama. Persons interested in participating in the singers or band should contact David Ratchford.
