The United Methodist Women at Front Street
The United Methodist Women (UMW) at Front Street is a community of women who seeks to help women grow in their experience of solitary faith as well as helping persons share their understanding of God's gift of liberating love and providing support of a group that engages in ministries of liberation and healing in the world.
The UMW at Front Street consists of 5 Circles of women who meet once monthly.
Circles 1, 2, 3 and 4 meet each month (except June - August) at 10:30 AM at the church.
We have a time of fellowship and refreshments followed by a brief devotional time.
Then, we separate into our individual Circles for our meeting.
Circle 5 meets each month (except June - August) at 7:30 PM at their members' homes.
We support several local and foreign ministries by:
One of our biggest service project each year is coordinating the Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. Each year we send approximately 150 filled shoeboxes that are sent throughout the world to children who might not receive any Christmas other than these boxes. This project begins in October each year.
2009 - 2011 theme is "In God's Mission We Are Sent Out ...
... To Create - Creating means keeping a fresh perspective and looking with new eyes at programs, needs, and resources.
... To Carry - We are called to communicate, challenge and stretch ourselves for more. Staying the same loses ground.
... To Connect - With our stewardship of self and Gods equipping, we can connect understanding and resources with the needs of others.
... To Continue - As we seek balance in serving God, we must continue to prepare and enable others to proclaim the good news of salvation, mercy, and justice in word and deed.
Our President for 2010 - 2011, Linda Weavil, invites all the women of Front Street to visit the monthly meetings and consider joining the UMW. If you have any questions, contact Linda.
