Drs. Lynn and Sharon Fogleman, both family physicians, are now based in Uganda, East Africa - for medical ministry under the auspices of TMS Global (formerly The Mission Society) based in Norcross, GA.  They had been in South Sudan working with the UMC there since 2012, but had to go to Uganda to partner with Medical Teams International (MTI) to serve South Sudanese refugees, when South Sudan became volatile and unstable in July, 2016.
The Foglemans served with the General Board of Global Ministries at Maua Methodist Hospital in Kenya for 10 years and the Red Bird Clinic in southeast Kentucky for 14 years before setting out on this new ministry.  They raised their 3 children during these years. – Kurt (the oldest) is now 30, married to Annie, and has one son, Nicholas, born in August of 2017.  Kurt is a physical education teacher in the Denver, CO area.  Mark (the second born) is now 28, married to Kenzi, and has two children, Emma (3 years old) and William (9 months old).  Mark, Kenzi, and family live in Kenya, where they, too, serve the Lord under TMS Global.  Mark is a civil engineer, and their ministry includes water projects in addition to their discipleship ministries to children and adults.  Joella (the youngest) is 26, living and working in Iowa City, IA.  She has a 6 year old daughter, Zari.  Sharon is currently assisting through some challenging times there in Iowa, while at the same time serving people in the Iowa City Free Clinic.  As Sharon has been assisting there in Iowa since May of 2017, Lynn has continued working in Moyo District Hospital located in northern Uganda.  Many of the patients for whom he cares are South Sudanese refugees.  The Foglemans are especially thankful for technology, such as Skype and cell phones, which will make staying in touch with family much easier than in 1987 when they first worked in Africa.
Front Street UMC has been supporting Drs. Lynn and Sharon since the beginning of their medical missionary careers.  Lynn’s father, Jack Fogleman, served as visiting pastor at Front Street UMC from 1985 to 1995.  They are grateful for our support as a church – support through prayer, finances, and sending out their quarterly newsletter.  More information is available on their ministry by contacting the Foglemans at  More information about TMS Global can be found at the TMS Global website
