Bereavement Ministry detail

The Bereavement Committee at FSUMC is seeking additional persons who might like to serve our congregation by assisting with a reception or meal preceding or immediately following the funeral for families at the passing of church members. We are specifically in need of additional members for the months of July, November and December but would gratefully accept your help during any time of the year.
For 1 month out of each year, you would agree to be “on call” to help with the preparation, serving and cleaning up involved in a reception or meal for the family in the event that our services might be needed. You would be a part of a team of 6-7 other folks volunteering for that same month.
With the 70-80 persons it takes to fill the 12 months of volunteers, you would have ample folks who are willing to trade with you or cover for you in case you might need to be away during your designated month. I would provide training, guidelines, and a list of folks serving with you, along with their contact information.
As a church family, this is an opportunity for us to reach out in Christian fellowship and compassion to our fellow members during a difficult time in their lives. In addition, it is a way for our church family to pay final respects to those who are no longer among us, but have impacted our lives as church members in their service to our church and its ministries.
We have an exceptional core group of ladies who carry this out for us, but we desperately need to broaden our base. Won’t you prayerfully consider joining us to assist in this very important work of our church? If you would like more information or feel called to help serve in this capacity, please contact Marie Crissman at marie.crissman@gmail.com or at 336-260-2512.
