We’re excited that Dr. Matt Brittain will shortly be joining us as Front Street’s Organist / Director of Music.  Here are a few details of his background:

Matt received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a minor in Music in December 2000 from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.

 In May of 2011 he was awarded his Master of Sacred Music with Organ Performance Emphasis, from the Candler School of Theology, Emory University (a Methodist divinity school), Atlanta, GA.  While studying at Emory, Matt served as Chapel Assistant at the William R. Cannon Chapel, Candler School of Theology and also sang in the University Master Singers, Concert Choir and University Chorus.

Matt earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ Performance with a cognate in Choral Conducting from the Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH, in April of 2016, with a GPA of 4.0.  Matt was the Organ Scholar at Calvary Episcopal Church while in Cincinnati and he also sang in the CCM Chorale.

His work experience has included serving as Organist at First Baptist Church, Lenoir, NC; Organist at First Presbyterian Church, Lenoir, NC and Organist / Choir Director at Beth Eden Lutheran Church, Newton, NC.

We look forward to the contributions Matt will make at Front Street UMC through his leadership of our music ministry.  We are confident that everyone will welcome Matt and embrace his ministry.

Matt Brittain will be in the office the week of July 25th with his first official Sunday at the organ console being July 31st.
