How long have you served at Front Street UMC?
I have been the Minister of Visitation since February 2020. However, I have been at Front Street for much longer, teaching Playschool for 25 years.
What’s your favorite thing about working here?
The people.
What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you here?
Being mistaken for Jan Register - biggest compliment ever!
Where were you born and raised?
Born in Winston Salem, but raised in Mt. Airy! Good ole Mayberry.
Where did you go to school?
Mt. Airy High School and Surry Community College.
How many children do you have?
Four.
What is most important about your work at FSUMC? What drives you? What is your passion?
I learn so much from the people of this church. It deepens my faith. I receive blessings and inspiration from folks young and old.
Which two people have most influenced you?
Betty Huneycutt, Barbara Long, Jan Register, Ellen Bergland, and my parents.
What are your favorite books, movies or songs?
My daddy's book of prayers and sermons.
How do you like to spend your free time?
With my gradchildren.
If you weren’t a minister at FSUMC what would your profession be?
A children's book author.
What’s your favorite food?
Pretty much whatever I don't have to cook!
Where do you like to vacation?
Wherever my children and grandchildren are! :-)
